During the creation of AURORA's second and third albums, she shared a few clips of the recording process via Instagram Stories. One of these clips (referred to by fans as "The Dark Is Following Me") contained vocals and lyrics not heard in any of the released songs. An associate of Aurora shared lyrics on his Twitter account, including some which are also heard in the Instagram clip.[1] Very little is known about the song.

In 2024, "The Dark That Follows" appeared in a list of potential songs in her What Happened to the Heart? book,[2] possibly a related or the same song.
