"A Dangerous Thing" (originally titled "Dangerous Thing") is, together with "Everything Matters", the thirty-first single by AURORA and the fifth single off her album, The Gods We Can Touch. On January 7, 2022, it was officially released as a double single.

About the song

Interviewed shortly after its release, Aurora said about this song:

"There's a lot of beauty in this world. And there's a lot of ugly. I was surprised to learn how often the ugly is disguised as beauty. How often poison is disguised as wine. And life disguised as death. And when we learn that what we thought was good for us, is in fact bad for us - even then we tend to go return to it. Because at least it's familiar. And all we ever dream about is home. Seductive, yet destructive. A dangerous thing indeed."

Aurora later explained to Apple Music:

"I placed 'A Dangerous Thing' after 'A Temporary High' because 'A Temporary High' ends with a guitar. And I wanted to jump into a guitar pattern right after."

In the book, Aurora wrote the following:

"I feel so bad for the people who had so much good in them. So much joy and life. Who met the wrong person. And they were forever changed. Forever broken. It's so tragic. How we can feel so ruined because of someone else."
