For the Humans Who Take Long Walks in the Forest (stylized in all caps) is the second studio EP by AURORA and the her first compilation. It was released on February 4, 2021.[1]

Background[]

The EP was released to celebrate the six-year anniversary of Aurora's single "Runaway", as well as celebrating the song reaching 100 million streams on Spotify. It is the first of a series of EPs compiled from her song catalogue, to celebrate the song's anniversary.[2] On the EP's release day, Aurora posted on her social media:

"My friends, I wanted to share something for those who walk in the forest... you probably already know these songs. But I wanted to make sure you would listen to them in the right places. Because, I feel most connected to them under the trees, away from the noise of the world. I hope these songs can allow you to escape into your mind... it's important to do that sometimes."[3]

On its release day she also announced a livestream on YouTube where she discussed the EP and her upcoming studio album The Gods We Can Touch, finishing it with an intimate performance of "Runaway".[4]

  • The EP was the first of several weekly playlists on Spotify.
  • Aurora has mentioned wanting listeners to go outside and listen to the EP in order to truly be in the music, and pretend they are in the trees if they do not have any nature near them. She hopes listeners are reminded of "how beautiful the world is."
  • The photo used on the cover was previously posted on Twitter by Aurora,[5] and was taken in Ireland while she was there for her shows at Malahide Castle Grounds.
