"Forgotten Love" (originally titled "The Beauty in Forgotten Love") is the fourteenth single released by AURORA and the second single from her second studio album Infections of a Different Kind - Step 1. On August 17, 2018, the song was officially released worldwide.[1]
The remixes of the song by Claptone were released on October 25, 2018.[2]
About the song[]
"Forgotten Love is a song I wrote about how when we choose to fall in love with someone, either a partner or even just the love you have for a friend, we know the risk it takes. How much it would hurt if we would lose this person who we love this much."[3]
Aurora talked about the single's cover art on her social media on the one-year birthday of the song:
"I painted this self portrait last minute cause we didn't have any cover for it. Or I had been painting it for a while, but I didn't show it to anyone before I realized this would be a perfect fit. I had to paint in-between festival shows, and every time I came home again the painting still hadn't dried off, so I could continue like no time had ever passed. It was a beautiful time-pocket for me. Still feeling the touch from the people of the past."[4][5]

# The second chorus is in an imaginary language made by Aurora. She confirmed this on Twitter after many fans confused it for Norwegian,[8] she also stated that it is a vocal language which cannot be written down, but shared a phonetic transcription of the words.[7]
About this created language, Aurora stated in an interview:
"My own language is an emotional language and it means what you need it to mean in the now. It's very liberating to sing the words, because I can change the energy in them. My newest song, 'Forgotten Love', has my own language in the second chorus, and you can feel the melody and instruments without having any input on what I'm saying. [...] It was an evolution that happened after my first album, and on my next album I have a lot of songs with this language. I wanted the new album to draw back to the native human being, which this kind of singing reminds me of—it means nothing and everything. It means emotion."[9]

- On various Glassnote releases, "Forgotten Love" is slightly different from the version appearing elsewhere, most notable in the backing vocals.[11]
- The lyrics for this song in the Japanese Deluxe Edition CD booklet seem to contain several errors.
- The song was featured on several of Spotify's New Music Friday playlists around the globe.
- Aurora was on the cover of the playlist in her home country, Norway.
