"Mr. Tambourine Man" (sometimes spelled "Mr Tambourine Man") is a song originally written and recorded by Bob Dylan, which AURORA has covered. She performed it live in several early shows and her cover was released as a bonus track on a French deluxe version of All My Demons Greeting Me as a Friend as the twentieth and final track.[1] It later became available in other Decca Records regions.
About the song[]
When asked in an interview with NRK about a song she was inspired by, Aurora said:
"'Mr. Tambourine Man' by Bob Dylan, I often heard it in the house when I was little. It has been with me on the journey through life until now. And when I got older, I also understood what it's really about, so it always became an exciting song, one with surprises!"[2][3]
Lyrics[]
Hey Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me
I'm not sleepy and there is no place I'm going to
Hey Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me
In the jingle jangle mornin' I'll come following you
Though I know the evening's empire has returned into sand
Vanished from my hands
Left me blindly here to stand, but still not sleepin'
Oh my weariness amazes me, I am branded on my feet
I have no one to meet
At these ancient empty streets too dead for dreamin'
Hey Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me
I'm not sleepy and there is no place I'm going to
Hey Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me
In the jingle jangle mornin' I'll come following you
Take me on a trip upon your magic swirlin' ship
My senses have been stripped
My toes too numb to step
Waiting only for my boot heels to be wanderin'
Oh I'm ready to go anywhere, I'm ready for to fade
Into my own parade, cast your dancing spell my way
I'm ready to go under it
Hey Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me
I'm not sleepy and there is no place I'm going to
Hey Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me
In the jingle jangle mornin' I'll come following you
Though you might hear laughin', spinnin'
Swinging madly across the sun
It's not aimed at anyone, it's just escapin' on the run
And but for the sky there are no fences facing
And if you hear vague traces of skipping reels of rhyme,
To your tambourine in time, it's just a ragged clown behind
It's just a shadow that you're seeing that he's chasin'
Hey Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me
I'm not sleepy and there is no place I'm going to
Hey Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me
In the jingle jangle mornin' I'll come following you
In the jingle jangle mornin' I'll come following you
