Thea Emilie Wang, artist name Thea Wang (stylized in lowercase), is a recording artist and musician. Originally from Bergen, Norway, she is currently based in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Coming from a musical family (her father a jazz musician, mother a background singer, her brother Mathias a producer and sister Marthe also a singer-songwriter), Thea sang in choirs and loved M2M, Destiny's Child and Phil Collins when she grew up. Later she discovered Jaga Jazzist, Jan Eggum, Elephant9, Brian Blade, Mathias Eick and Joni Mitchell. "I especially love music with strong melodies, and harmonies, which I think I have from my family, and I love great lyrics - which I have from books." Thea studied jazz-vocals at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo and studied at Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen. She played with experimental pop-duo called Daiisy and in various jazz/pop groups for some years.[2] She is also in the group Nothing Personal.[3]
Thea is performing live as a solo artist since 2019. She released her first single "Tell Me About It" on February 4, 2022 and her debut album While He Is Still Asleep was released on September 9, 2022.[4]
Thea joined the AURORA live band in 2022, singing backing vocals and sometimes playing keys/synth. Their first public performance together was on 6/16/2022 at Bergenfest. Thea Wang was a support act for AURORA on the Europe and Asia legs of The Gods We Can Touch Tour.[5][6][7]
