"Why Did You Go Somewhere I Couldn't Follow" is an unreleased song by AURORA. She wrote the song for a school friend who passed away in 2014 due to a traffic accident. The friend's mother made a post in 2017 which also included a recording of it and a comment by Aurora.
About the song
The quote by Aurora from the post read:
"It is important that the song can be cried to. That it is reminiscent of grief and that it can relieve a little at the same time. This song is [her] song. And it always will be. I only had her in mind when I recorded it, and I think that a small part of her is in it if you listen extra carefully."[1]
Title
The song's title is not confirmed, though two articles noted: "Aurora [...] Aksnes had made her own song for [her] and sang; 'Why did you go somewhere I couldn't follow'."[2] The song was also reposted by fans under various titles, but as far as known these titles have no source and were presumably made up: "Why Did You Go a Place?", "Why" and "Why Did You Have To Go?".
