"Your Blood" is a song by AURORA, it was released worldwide as a single on November 8, 2023[2][3] and is the third track on the album What Happened to the Heart?.[4]
An acoustic version was released as a bonus track for the Japanese CD album on June 26, 2024.[5]
About the song[]
Aurora said of the song in press releases:
"I think they waited too long. For their life to begin. They healed themselves, and forgot life could be more than just healing. It could be about growing too. It's an indescribable thing, to see your favourite person change. And I guess this song is about the attempt of bringing them back. And sometimes it feels as difficult as trying to fight the wind blowing them away. They turn to dust. But I still believe it's doable. Just never give up."[6]
"The world is always bleeding. And you never know what is going on under people's skin. I think it's only when we reach out to each other, that we understand what compassion and beauty we are capable of as human beings. Even if we can't understand what people are going through: we should still try. If we don't, what is a life truly worth? Sometimes addressing the pain, your own, or the pain of the world hurts so much it feels like dying. But in truth, I believe it is then we are born. Your blood. My blood. Our blood."[7]
Aurora also talked about the song in an interview for New Music Daily Radio.[8][9]
Release[]
On October 1, 2023, Aurora posted a clip including the note "Listen carefully, new music might fall into your arms" on social media.[10] On October 21, she posted two emojis ("🩸👀").[11]
On October 27, the song title was announced and a first teaser clip was posted on Aurora's social media.[12] In the following days: the single cover and a message from Aurora,[13] notes of lyrics posted in social media groups and a sneak peak voice memo by Aurora after pre-saving the song.[14]
